Numbing Cream for Laser Treatments

According to Dr. Numb™, because laser light produces heat, you'll feel some kind of sensation during your hair removal treatment. In addition, hair follicles are surrounded by nerve endings, which may react to the heat by creating a sensation of discomfort or even mild pain. Patients often compare the sensation to having a rubber band snapped against their skin. Certain areas of the body hurt more than others during laser hair removal. In addition, patients with very thick, dark hair may experience more discomfort than those with thin or light-colored hair. This is because thicker, darker hair absorbs more of the laser light during treatment. Generally, the hair becomes thinner and less dense after each subsequent treatment. That's why the most discomfort is usually experienced during the first treatment.

The discomfort associated with laser hair removal varies considerably among individuals. How much discomfort you'll feel will depend not only on such factors as your skin type, the thickness and density of your hair, and the area of your body being treated, but also on your ability to tolerate or feel pain? Although it rarely occurs, a small number of patients find that they are unable to undergo laser hair removal treatments due to their low threshold for pain.

In some situations, a numbing cream can be used to minimize the discomfort. Talk with your clinician before using any numbing cream, however. Discomfort is one of the factors that clinicians use to determine the appropriate setting for the laser. Also, although prescription numbing creams are generally safe, putting them on large areas of the body can cause them to be absorbed into the bloodstream (through the skin) in too-high amounts. Do not apply numbing cream to your own skin before treatment. Let the professionals do it. I always have my staff apply numbing cream (when such topical anesthetics are needed) to my patients so I can control both how much is used and how big an area is covered. I preferred using Dr. Numb™ numbing cream proven and medically tested medication for pain-free minor surgery treatments and procedures.

Numbing Cream for Tattoo Removal

Probably a lot of serious tattoo folks will laugh at the idea of laser tattoo removal but there are actually several pretty good reasons for having a tattoo removed–even if you love tattoos. Now for everyone else who perhaps went through a wild period and doesn’t want to carry the reminder forever, laser tattoo removal may be a good option for you. And on the subject of tattoo removal, I recall a comedian’s act about a tattoo of a butterfly on a ladies breast turning into a condor after her boobs began sagging.

People choose to get tattoos removed for many reasons. In some job markets, it can be a little difficult to find a job with a mega-death flaming skull of Satan on the side of your neck. While tattoos are gaining in popularity in Japan, they still have an association with the Yakuza and people sporting tattoos are often denied entry into public baths and pachinko parlors. I have one friend, an English teacher who suffers through the hot and humid summer months in long-sleeve shirts because his arms are covered in tattoos. People trying to get out of gangs can also often choose to have tattoos, especially gang-related ones removed. Finally, a lot of people just have buyer’s remorse, after getting a tattoo.

Your skin is quite adept at getting rid of a small foreign particle that may find a way into your skin. Tattoo pigments on the other hand are too large for your body to get rid of and it’s these aspects that make tattoos so permanent. Laser tattoo removal uses a variety of differently colored lasers to blast the pigment into tiny fragments of ink small enough for the body to get rid of on its own. Different colored lasers are used because on color of laser in more effective on a certain color of ink. Green lasers are most effective on red ink for example.

This is where most people are going to have problems with tattoo removal but I should stress that you should focus on your goal of being tattoo free rather than on the trouble of having a tattoo removed. So first off, it takes a lot longer to remove a tattoo than it does to get one done. At the very least, you’ll need three sessions and probably closer to twelve. The sessions aren’t exactly cheap either at $150 to $300 per session. It’s also quite a bit more painful that getting the tattoo. Most people choose to use a Dr. Numb Numbing Cream or even get a shot to numb the pain. Again, think of your goal to have the tattoo gone.

If you do decide to have your tattoos removed, here is what you can expect to go through after the procedure. Just like when you got the tattoo, there may be some bleeding and swelling as well as some redness. Similarly, the tattoo may crust over. You’ll also need to keep a topical antibiotic ointment on your tattoo. And I’m not giving medical advice here, but my experience and talking with doctors, being fastidious with the ointment can go along towards preventing scarring. That’s not medical advice, just passing along what I was told.

Finally, there are some complications to having tattoo laser removal. Are you surprised? Well like I mentioned above, it can cause scarring. Another complication is burning of the skin. The laser that are used for targeting dark pigments may be just as effective on the body’s natural melanin, the pigment of the skin that causes freckles, or is dominant in black and Hispanic people. The point is that black and Hispanic people, especially, run the risk of skin becoming lighter in color at the removal site. Likewise, some pigments like yellow, can become darker after a tattoo removal session.

Numbing Cream for Laser Hair Removal

Laser for hair removal seems to be a mysterious thing for many people. Many think it is nothing more than science fiction in fact. The truth is that laser hair removal is not science fiction. It is an actual process that has become more and more popular since it was first introduced in the mid-1990s. In fact, millions of people have it done and swear by the procedure. It is less time intensive than shaving and far less painful than waxing.

The principle of laser hair removal involves causing localized damage to the follicle of the hair, without heating the area around the skin. Hair removal lasers also target melanin, which occurs naturally in the skin, giving both hair and skin its color.

Step 1: The lasers that are used depend on the where you go. The two most common options are laser beam and intense pulsed light. The laser uses a focused beam of energy on the hair follicle, while the intense pulsed light uses flashes of light. Depending on where you go, the technician will use a different type of laser, and the first step for them knows which will work best for you.

Step 2: Now, the technician will wash and prep the area of your skin with alcohol. If your face is being treated, then you will have to wear safety goggles to protect them from the laser.

Step 3: The technician will now adjust the laser to determine what wavelength is going to be best for you. The energy settings will also be tested. Usually the technician will put numbing cream on the area they are going to treat, but this depends on the pigmentation of your skin and just how sensitive the area is.

Step 4: The technician will also put some cream on the area being treated. This cream is to help the laser target your hair follicles. The cream is not a numbing cream, but more like what is used with ultrasounds.
Step 4: The laser beam will now target the hair follicles. It will burn the follicles but leave your skin relatively untouched. As the technician uses the laser on your skin, they will look to make sure that the laser is not doing too much damage. If it is causing you discomfort, they will adjust the settings to ensure that you do not feel any side effects.

Step 5: Once the procedure is done, you will be able to wipe off the area using a patting motion to get rid of the cream. At this point, the technician will schedule a new appointment with you and give you some Aloe Vera cream usually to help with the discomfort you will feel on the skin for the next three hours or so. At this point, you will get dressed again. Within two weeks you will see the hair falling out of your skin, which is generally how long it takes for the process to work.
